While Hawaii has an array of wonderful restaurants, one of my favorites is definitely Roy’s in Waikiki. From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with excellent service. They seated us next to the window, with nice palm trees outside. I have to admit the lighting wasn’t super favorable and I think they could have dimmed the lights a bit lower to match the ambiance.

Once we were seated, they served us two large water glasses and a bowl of edamame so that we were able to nibble while looking at the incredibly generous menu. To be honest, there was nothing in there that I wouldn’t enjoy eating (and there were A LOT of choices). The menu includes Asian fusion cuisine with sushi rolls, Sashimi, different Asian appetizers, meat options, you name it!

Since we wanted to keep it simple, and we were ready to feast, we chose the Beachwalk 4-course menu with the wine pairing for 95$. You can get a detailed look at the menu below.

Before our meal, we started off with a glass of Pinot Noir, for 17$ a glass we were presented with a large pour. The wine was light and deliciously easy to drink. Mid sipping (or gulping for that matter), our first appetizer arrived with our wine pairing of Mumm Champagne. We were served a plate of heaven – Kampachi Sashimi with sliced jalapeño. Each bite was a mouthful of absolute delight.

The second dish, which I didn’t take a picture of, was the green salad for me, and a Caesar salad for Anthony. We finished it but it wasn’t necessarily anything out of the Ordinary. It was fresh, but expected. This dish was paired with the a glass of Pinot Grigio. At this point, we had three different glasses of wine on our table as we had some catching up to do.

The third dish was the main and boy oh boy, was it delicious! The macadamia nut crusted Mahi-mahi cooked medium (as the chef recommended, the server said). It was certainly a mouthful of wonders and every bite was rich and decadent as it was drenched with lobster sauce. The dish was paired with a glass of cold Chardonnay that was smooth like butter. A generous portion of fish, I couldn’t finish my meal but luckily, Anthony being a growing boy and all, helped me eat the rest. The service so far was on point.

A note to add on the service: our water glasses were NEVER empty. They constantly refilled and made sure Anthony was hydrated. Usually when we dine out, Anthony finds himself needing to always ask for refills. Didn’t have to do that once at Roy’s. It was impressive and made us feel like we were taken care of.
