Now that we’ve entered the month of December, it is officially time to think about the holidays. Decorations are finally welcomed with open arms without it being “too early” for Christmas. Christmas present shopping is coming to a frantic start. ‘It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas’ is coming to a reality.
Living in Sweden, one of the things I loved most about Christmas time (aside from the many booze-filled dinner parties) was getting together with my girlfriends and making cookies and chocolates to give to close family and friends. I have such fond memories of those times as we drank wine, laughed about life, and had baked goods. On top of that, people were always ecstatic to receive the treats not only because it tastes delicious, but the fact that we actually made them.
Since then, I made it customary to bake goodies to give to my loved ones to thank them for being in my life. This year, i found the perfect cookie recipe. The ever-so-lovely, Peppermint Bark Cookies by Sally’s Baking Addiction.
Aren’t they just so wonderfully festive without being too over-the-top? A combo of my two favorite Christmas flavors: chocolate and peppermint!
The base is a chocolate sugar cookie (which means they’re soft and chewy) covered in white chocolate flavored with peppermint. The final touch to make it holiday ready is the crushed candy canes.
